From frequent washing to not washing enough it’s important to know how to take care of your lingerie so that it can last as long as possible, because there’s nothing worse than having to say goodbye to that old trusted favourite bra that’s been torn up by the washing machine.
There’s a lot of talk about how often you should be washing your bras, whether it’s after every wear or after much longer. For those days when you sweat more you may want to wash it after one wear as the salts in our sweat can cause the fabrics to degrade. However, we advise that you do not need to wash your bras after every wear in any other circumstance, which also helps cut down on your washing load. Washing your bras after every two or three wears will help protect the elastics in the fabrics.
Before you decide to wash your lingerie, you should check the label on the washing instructions as certain fabrics react differently to different temperatures. It isn’t always necessary to hand wash all of your lingerie however the more delicate the fabric, the safer they will be. Alternatively, if your washing machine has a delicate cycle, this is often lower in temperature and spins, meaninging your garments are taken care of easily with less risk to them being torn by other tougher fabrics such as denim within your regular laundry.
The final tip we have for you is about using the right detergents. For so many reasons we recommend using eco-friendly, organic delicates detergents as these don’t have the nasty chemicals that not only decolour your lingerie but helps reduce water pollution in the local area.
Finally, our last tip is a must, your lingerie should never enter the dryer if you can help it. Air drying your delicates outside or inside on a clothing horse will lengthen the life of your favourite pieces by far!
